A psychiatrist is a physician i.e., a medical doctor (MD or DO), who went to medical school. As physicians, a psychiatrist has thousands of hours of actual hands-on training (generally this involves completing a 3-4-year residency training program) after completing medical school (usually about 4-5 years). A Child/Adolescent psychiatrist has an additional 2 years of specialized training focused towards treatment of children, adolescents and families.
They can prescribe medications as well as offer psychotherapy, because of their intensive training along with a deep understanding of biology and mental health

I work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma-related symptoms, stress, and family or relationship difficulties. My approach is personalized and grounded in evidence-based practices, with attention to the biological, psychological, and social factors that influence mental health.

Yes. As a board-certified psychiatrist and medical doctor, I am licensed to prescribe medications when appropriate. Treatment may also include therapy, lifestyle guidance, or coordination with other providers.
Please note that I only provide refills for active patients (those that have completed the initial evaluation and a doctor-patient relationship has been established).
This process can take a few weeks. If you require a prescription to be refilled before we establish care, please contact your original prescribing doctor or your primary care physician.
-
I incorporate psychotherapeutic strategies into our sessions when appropriate. However, if there is a need for ongoing or formal therapy, I will provide a referral so you can find a therapist who best fits your needs.

No, I do not accept insurance. I operate as an out-of-network, cash-only, concierge practice that provides personalized and confidential care without restrictions or time constraints imposed by insurance companies.
By opting for this model I can dedicate more time to thorough evaluations, individualized treatment plans, and collaborative care with families, schools, and other providers.
Payment is due at the time of service and a credit card is required on file before the first evaluation. Superbills are provided upon request. A superbill is a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if you have out-of-network mental health benefits.
Before scheduling your first appointment, it is recommended you call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
What percentage of the fee will be reimbursed?
Is there a deductible I must meet first?
How do I submit a claim for reimbursement?
Choosing an out-of-network, cash-based practice means prioritizing care that is tailored to your needs, free from insurance-driven restrictions. If you have additional questions about this process, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Yes, I offer secure video appointments for individuals located in Texas, where I am licensed to practice.. In-person appointments are limited and offered on a case-by-case basis for Houston and nearby areas. Services are presently rendered primarily via telehealth. I believe this model allows me to have a deeper outreach into the community and provide care across the states of Texas.

Upon completion of the initial evaluation sessions, care will be established if it is mutually determined that the treating relationship will be a good fit. Only then will Dr. Younus be considered your psychiatrist.

I am board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both general/adult and child/adolescent psychiatry. I am well-versed in assessments across the diagnostic spectrum.
I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families for concerns related to ADHD, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, parent-child relational issues, and common co-morbidities.
Patients with primary/active substance use disorder, psychosis, eating disorders, or high suicidality or other significant safety concerns require specialized care that may be difficult to provide at my practice. These patients would likely be better suited with in person services.
-
Cancellations or rescheduling must be done at least 24 business hours in advance. Late cancellations and no-shows will be subject to the full appointment fee.
Please note, pre-payment of fees prior to the appointment is required fro each appointment.
-
If you are not yet an established patient and have a general question, please use the “Contact Us” tab on the website. If you are interested in a complimentary screening phone call, you can request one through the “Appointments” tab. Once you are an established patient, you will have access to a secure messaging portal, which is the preferred method for ongoing communication and follow-up.
